What is Goferly?

Goferly is an online marketplace which connects users, who barter skills for money. Users can sign up as 'requesters' or 'providers' a.k.a 'Gofers' to post or offer help on daily chores, which are sometimes too mundane or too complicated.

A Goferly User is a person who posts chores or can complete chores for other people within the Goferly community - your own neighborhood. These chores include range of jobs from "walking your dog" to "grocery delivery" to "handyman jobs". Anyone can be a Goferly User! Simply create an account and then start browsing chores or even post your own chore!

What is a Chore Poster?

When we want something delegated or 'outsourced', we should look no further than somebody in our own community to help us for a fee!

A Chore Poster is a person who wants help getting everyday chores and errands done (they "post" the chore). Posting a chore is FREE and often only takes a few minutes to find the right person.

Its super simple to get started - just create an account and sign up and post your chores for a wide variety of work.

Remember to describe your chore well and specify when & where and your chore budget.

What types of chores can I get done with Goferly?

You can post almost any chore you need done on Goferly. We have categories listed for ease of use, almost every chore you can think of and can delegate is covered under Goferly. For e.g. chores around the home (like painting, cleaning, grocery delivery) to office chores (like data processing, resume writing, website support) to chores for business (like promotional staffing, event management, photography). There are many people out there with the right skills and who are ready, willing and able to do your chores for a price.

Is Goferly Free?

YES! It is absolutely FREE to join, post chores and browse chores. We don't charge you anything to visit our website, neither do we ask you to join Facebook or Twitter or any other social networking site first, to then join our website.

What do I need to Join Goferly?

All you need is a valid e-mail address and a user name and password. Once you have created an account with us, we will then need your credit card details in order to process transactions through PayPal, who is our trusted partner in secure payments throughout Goferly.

How much does it cost to post a chore?

It is absolutely FREE to post a chore. The price that you negotiate with the provider is what you'll need to pay once the chore is completed. There are no additional fees or hidden costs. (We charge a fee to the person that completes your job.)

Once I post a chore, is there a commitment to hire a Gofer?

No, it is FREE to post a chore and there are no obligations to select a Gofer unless you find the right person for the job.

Why are only some providers Background Check Verified?

Here at Goferly, we believe you are the master of your own profile and marketability. We do not impose mandatory background check verification on our users .However, providers do have an option to get themselves verified through our trusted partners at OneSource Background Check Company - The Country's leading background verification service. Providers do this at their own expense to showcase their commitment to your trust.

How do I choose the best person to complete my chore?

Once you've posted your chore, you'll begin receiving offers / bids from providers who can complete your chore. You can correspond with them through our secure message center and ask them questions, request further info and check out their profile to make sure that you find the right person for the job. There are no obligations to hire.

How do I know how much to pay for a chore?

The price that you offer is simply a starting point and experienced providers will make offers / bids to negotiate a fair price. There are no strict rules about how much to offer but as a starting point, think of how much time it might take the person to complete the chore and what a fair hourly rate or go with the fixed pricing depending on the experience or skills required. What are the payment options for each chore?

To make it easy and secure and to avoid any disputes, we wanted to avoid any cash changing hands. All tips, gratuity etc. can all be bundled up in one price and paid to the provider. All transactions are processed through our partner PayPal's secure systems.

What is a Goferly Provider / Gofer?

A Goferly worker is a person who can complete chores for other people within the Goferly community - your local neighborhood. These chores include range of jobs from cleaning to office support, promotional work and handyman jobs.

In order to become a provider a.k.a Gofer (we lovingly refer to you as a gofer- coz we think it's very cute!) you need to make an offer (bid) on a specific Chore that you would like to complete. Once the Chore Poster has assigned you to the chore you will then be the selected person to complete the Chore!

Anyone can be a Gofer! Simply sign up and browsing chores in your area.

What types of jobs are available?

There are a range of jobs available on Goferly from chores around the home like grocery deliveries, cleaning, gardening and handyman work to chores for businesses like office admin, promotional work or computer & IT support. There also a range of creative chores like photography, graphic design and website & blog support which can help you earn money online.

Is Bidding on a job allowed?

YES! We believe in an open marketplace, where skills are traded for money. Bidding is an integral part of Goferly and that is what makes us different in the marketplace. You can bid on any job and outpace your competitors, through quality pricing. We have seen several chores being assigned to providers who outbid others successfully and quickly!

How do I know my Bid was selected?

To make 'first contact' with a requester, you have to put in your initial bid price - make sure it is reasonable and within the price bucket the requester is willing to stay in. After this, the requester will 'select' your bid or choose to correspond further via our secure Message Center and establish communication. You can then take it from there, finalizing on your project and setting the final price.

Can I accept Cash once the chore is done?

NO! We have seen in many instances, cash changing hands has led to disputes and misunderstanding between requesters and providers. We have established a partnership with PayPal to avoid this from happening and encourage users to use a more trusted and secure platform with payment terms set, even before starting a project.

How do I get paid?

There is a secure and efficient payment method through which you can be paid for completing a chore. This can be done securely via PayPal - our partner in secure and efficient online transactions. You'll need to create a PayPal account - but don't worry, this only takes a few minutes and in most cases, you might already have one, if you have ever shopped online.

Who will I be working with?

It's totally up to you! Many of our gofers work individually and in some cases they partner you with someone they know if the chore needs more than just one person. When browsing jobs, you can check out profiles, reviews and recommendations to determine who you'll be working with. Please always let your requester know of any extra members on your team before starting a project.

How much does it cost?

A percentage of the agreed chore price is charged to you, but only after you have completed the chore and collected payment. There are no hidden fees or additional costs.

How much can I earn through Goferly?

You are the master of your own paycheck at Goferly. There are no 9a.m. - 5p.m. schedules, fixed hourly wages or anything which can hinder you from making as much money as you want. You decide when you want to work, for which person and get to set your own hourly wage. Some jobs could pay $10/hour while other could pay upwards of $100/hour. Happy Bidding!

Can I offer to provide my services on weekends?

YES, Absolutely! The majority of chores assigned through Goferly happen on the weekends and this serves as the best option for both requesters (since most will be at home) and for providers, who for the most part have full time jobs on the weekdays and use Goferly to make extra cash on the weekends.

Why do you call providers of services 'Gofers'?

We just love the term and find it very cute to call providers - gofers, hence the name of the company Goferly.com. All of us, at some point in time have been 'gofers' or 'runners' for our parents, siblings, neighbors, bosses etc. running errands and chores for free. At Goferly, we now actually get paid to do those chores!
