Code of Conduct
Like in all professional dealings, we expect all our users at Goferly to conduct themselves and each other with respect, honesty and a little bit of patience. We strive to make your experience on Goferly as simple and straightforward for both the requesters and providers of services.
In order for us to maintain a secure and friendly environment, we came up with a set of rules, hereby referred to as the Code of Conduct. Please try to adhere to them and help us make this a better place to conduct business.
General Code of Conduct
- All chores posted must be legal and all providers / gofers must be legally entitled to perform the chore.
- Users must be at least 21 years of age to handle any liquor related chores, such as posting a request, delivery and handling.
- All price negotiations must be finalized before a chore is started.
- Completed chores must be remunerated via PayPal and may not be remunerated in other types of payments or cash equivalents.
- Your account is your responsibility - you must maintain control of it and it's not transferrable.
Code of Conduct for Requesters
- Upload a profile photo so people can get to know who they are working with. This improves your community reputation and helps get tasks done faster.
- Be precise and to the point when putting a chore Headline and keep it less than 10 words.
- Be as descriptive on the body of your chore message. You have options to upload files which best describe your chore, for e.g. Pictures of your walls (for painting services) or a picture of your dog (for pet sitting) etc.
- Please set realistic expectations and prices under each price bucket.
- Don't hesitate to ask as many questions via our secure message center to get your answers, before deciding on a provider.
- Don't hesitate to ask for proper insurance / licenses on the providers part, just to cover yourself in case of any injuries, mishaps etc. while the chore is being performed.
- Look for the Background Check verification Banner on top of the providers profile view, in case you want to be extra sure of someone's credibility.
- Clarify the details and let the Gofer know if you plan to cover travel costs and reimbursements for purchases made for you.
- Always lump all the tips, fees, tolls, equipment costs all together in the final cost of the project and let the Gofer know about the breakout, before he/she starts the project.
- Always use our secure PayPal systems to pay the Gofer, once the chore is complete. This ensures they get paid on time.
- Remember to leave feedback via our 'goferability index' rating on a set of 5 indices. This ensures future repeatability and marketability of the provider.
- If you have to cancel, please let the provider know at least 12 hours before the start of the project.
- Don't post chores in which payment for the task is dependent on making a sale or getting a financial return. The price for sales or marketing based tasks should be based on the number of hours or work completed.
Code of Conduct for Gofers / Providers of Services
- Upload a profile photo so people can get to know who they are working with. This improves your community reputation and helps get tasks done faster.
- You might be working for a services firm with other workers, colleagues etc., but ensure it is you who they get when they interact and agree upon final completion of chore.
- Do not misrepresent yourself, your skills or areas of expertise.
- Any impersonation of someone else would lead to direct dismissal of services and expulsion from the website for any future involvement.
- Background check feature is optional for you to get, but statistics have shown that providers who have the background check banner on their profiles are more suited over others who don't.
- You have the option to pay (minimal amount) to OneSource - The Background check company via our website when you sign up. OneSource will provide a copy of your successful background check in 24-48 hours. Once you have this, it will improve your marketability and trust with your clients on the site.
- We do not charge extra for Background checks. It is your money and your report and it belongs to you. We do however get a copy of the report, just to ensure the safety of our users on the site.
- Bidding is a big part of Goferly and you have the opportunity to place bids on various posted chores.
- Ensure your starting bid is reasonable and within the specified price buckets of the requester. You could, while bidding quote a 'flat fee' and number of hours you would take to complete the chore. The system will automatically calculate your approx. hourly rate.
- Once your chore is completed and you have provided the best you can, requesters have the option to leave you reviews.
- We have developed an easy to use review process based on set industry standards and refer to them as the 'Goferability Index'.
- The Goferability index is made up 5 benchmarks namely: - Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality of Work, Price Competitiveness and Repeatability (i.e. will you use his/ her services again).
- Try to maintain these 5 pillars of Goferability index standards while performing your chore, since this can affect your rating (number of stars) on your profile view.
- Set clear expectations with your requesters: Surprises are not a good thing when it comes to tasking, so please ensure that nothing unexpected happens while you're working on a task. Be sure to set clear expectations about task timing, out-of-pocket expenses and any other details that are relevant to completing the task. Be alert of accepting chores that include the purchase of high-value items (over $100). Confirm with the requester of the price of these items and let them know of these expenses before you buy them.
- Only accept Available chores if you feel confident that you will complete the chore. If the chore details do not include enough information to provide you this confidence, do not accept it and move onto bigger and better chores on the site
- Please carry proper insurance /licenses suitable to the chore at hand. For e.g., please have a valid driver's license if the chore involves driving around for groceries and other insurance/ licenses for handyman, household chores etc. We are not responsible for any work related injuries. Please read our
Terms & Conditions for further information on this topic.
- If you plan on bringing some additional helping hands with you to the job site, please let your requester know in advance so he/she will be prepared in advance. Remember the requester is paying only for one i.e. you, so keep that in mind!
- If you need to cancel an accepted chore, please let the requester know at least 12 hours in advance so that they can make other arrangements.
- For any reason, you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, please professionally and politely leave the place of work and call up 911 first.
- Do not complete any tasks that put you at risk financially or physically. This includes meeting a Client for a delivery under suspicious circumstances.
- Please follow all guidelines, laws and restrictions for any shops, restaurants, sites or venues you visit or utilize during your tasks.
- If you think in anyway, you have been mistreated, abused or treated unfairly after or while performing a chore, please don't hesitate to write to us at legal@goferly.com. We will try our best to resolve the wrongdoing mutually in accordance with the law and the requester.
- We don't ask you to wear any of our apparel, hats, aprons, gloves or carry any of our other merchandise, while you perform your chore. We are not your employer and do not expect you to behave as our employee. You are your own businessman/woman and we love your individuality. We will never impose ourselves onto you. If you really do love wearing our merchandise, we won't stop you from wearing them either!
